Please note: all of the information on this site and FAQ page relate to roles and working at our head office. If you have questions about our flagship mental health social work programme, please head over to our main website here: FAQs - Think Ahead.

Below we’ve answered some frequently asked questions. If you have another question that we haven’t answered below, please drop us a message at hr@thinkahead.org and we’ll get back to you.

Applying to work at Think Ahead

All of our current vacancies can be found here. Our application process begins with the completion of an online form. For more details on our processes and the candidate journey, please click here.

You can sign up for job alerts here to be notified of any new vacancies.

Of course. When considering your next application, make sure that you can demonstrate the necessary skills and experience required for the role.

We will normally be in contact no longer than one week after a vacancy closes, to notify you whether you have been shortlisted.

If you can't find the role you are looking for on our careers page, unfortunately this means that we are no longer accepting applications for this role and that the vacancy has closed.

We do not accept CVs. All applications are completed through an online application form, although you may be able to transfer parts of your CV across to the work experience section of the application.

We encourage everyone to complete an online application unless there’s a good reason why you can’t. By applying online, you are added to our applicant tracking system and this ensures that we can process your application in an efficient and timely manner. We also blind screen our applications, and our applicant tracking system enables us to do this by removing your name from the application until interviews are confirmed. If, however, you are unable to complete our application form due to accessibility requirements, please get in touch at hr@thinkahead.org and we’ll work with you to find a reasonable solution.

Where a role requires handling sensitive information and data, we may require staff to complete a basic DBS check. We will notify you if this is the case for the role you are applying for. If you have any concerns about this, we encourage you to contact us and have a conversation about it by emailing us at hr@thinkahead.org.

We only contact referees in the case that you’re offered the role. We’ll also ask for your permission before contacting them, so that you can notify them ahead of time.

Working at Think Ahead

Most of our roles are London-based, with our offices located close to Chancery Lane and Farringdon. We offer flexibility for our staff, with the ability to work from home frequently. Staff are expected to be in the office around 1-2 days per week.

We know that working together in person has many benefits but recognise the importance of flexibility in our approach. Some of our roles may be fully remote due to the nature of the role – for example, some of our Practice Specialists with units in the North of England are based in that area and work fully remotely.

Think Ahead operates on a 37.5 hour week. We operate core hours of 10.00am to 4.00pm (with breaks for lunch), and staff are free to arrange their working hours around this to suit them (to be agreed with your manager). Working in this way enables flexibility within the workday to accommodate individual preferences.

Diversity and inclusion

There is no obligation at all for you to tell us if you have a disability, however, we want all of our staff to be equipped with the right tools and the best working environment to work, so we encourage you to let us know how we can best support you. If you want to discuss reasonable adjustments with us, please contact us at hr@thinkahead.org.

Other questions

Unfortunately, we’re not currently in a position to be able to sponsor work visas. This means that all applicants must be eligible to work in the UK before they apply for a vacancy with us and be able to provide evidence of this during the selection process.

Each role is different! We only ask for experience and qualifications where necessary for the role, and each role will require a different level of experience. If you think you’ve got the skills to do the job, we’d love to receive an application from you.

We don’t currently have a formal work experience programme in place, but as we grow this is something we’d love to do. If you have a particular query around work experience, drop us an email at hr@thinkahead.org and we’ll keep an eye out for any opportunities where we could accommodate this.
